He named the house in honour of Major-General Sir Henry Havelock KCB (1795-1857) in gratitude for the General's support during the Indian rebellion of 1857. His statue stands in Trafalgar Square, London.

It has five comfortable well-equipped en suite bedrooms which were refurbished in April 2026.  Decor has a light and airy sea-side feel. Some rooms can affected by noise from the Bar, particularly twin bedrooms at weekends, so if you prefer a quiet environment, contact us in advance so we can allocate one of our quieter rooms.  Pets are not allowed in the bedrooms. The listed building includes a picturesque Victorian veranda in the front garden. A lovely place to enjoy and evening drink.
